The veterinarians at Wilkes County Veterinary Services possess vast experience diagnosing and treating equine illnesses, injuries and treatments.
We understand that it is not always possible to bring a large animal to a clinic. We are proud to be a mobile veterinarian and offer house calls to see your animals at your own home. This allows us to treat the animals in a comfortable environment.
Wilkes County Veterinary Services provide many health care services to our equine patients, including:
- Breeding and reproductive services, including artificial insemination and sperm production/reproductive ability
- Colic treatment (a gastrointestinal disturbance that can be fatal) on-site or by house call
- Equine dentistry & teeth floating (smoothing or filing down of sharp points and edges). Equine teeth should be examined annually starting at 2 years of age to detect and correct any long or sharp teeth. Their teeth constantly grow for up to 25 years and horses can rarely self-grind which is why we recommend a consistent floating schedule for the majority of horses.
- Evaluation and treatment of lameness (inability to walk) or pain while walking, including standing and moving exams, joint and nerve blocks, and X-rays
- Podiatry (hoof care)
- Routine preventive care (standard vaccinations and deworming protocol)
- Emergency services

We understand that it is not always possible to bring your animal to a clinic. That is why we are proud to be a mobile veterinarian and offer farm calls to see animals in your own home.
